Mountain View Hospital provides a broad range of orthopedic services and our physicians have advanced fellowship training in specific subspecialties. Our orthopedic team includes two surgeons from The Center in Bend. This unique partnership offers Madras and Jefferson County residents quality, total joint and orthopedic care in a hometown setting.
Dr. Soma Lilly and Dr. Michael Caravelli, provide a comprehensive range of services through our Orthopedic Care Clinic. Dr. Soma Lilly specializes in trauma and reconstructive surgery for problems of the hand, wrist and elbow for pediatric and adult patients. Dr. Michael Caravelli's practice focuses on comprehensive arthritis care which includes total joint replacement and revision surgeries.
Our Orthopedic team can perform several procedures at Mountain View Hospital including:
Arthroscopy (knee), carpal tunnel surgery, hand and foot surgery, total joint replacement, and hip and knee arthritic care.
Mountain View Hospital also employs a full time Surgical Services Physician Assistant, Sydney Johnstone. Sydney plays an interactive role with our surgeons in ensuring their patients receive quality care.

Our Orthopedic Team
Dr. Caravelli’s practice focuses on comprehensive arthritis care including total joint replacement. He believes in sharing his knowledge with his patients and partnering with them to make informed decisions about their care.
Dr. Lilly’s special interests include trauma and reconstructive surgery for problems of the hand, wrist and elbow for pediatric and adult patients.
Sydney Johnstone, PA-C
Sydney's primary function involves assisting the Orthopedic Surgeons in surgery. She works side by side with our surgeons, assisting them with exposure and the technical aspects of the surgery. This helps to assure that the patient's surgeries go smoothly and that the patients are well taken care of. Sydney will also evaluate surgical patients' pre and post-operatively, assist with rounds in the hospital, and see patients in the clinic at various times during the week.
